Over the past five years, coastal engineering teams and local government leadership have quietly upgraded the region's coastlines, essentially changing the area's DNA from a typical vacation resort town into an eco-certified, worldwide confirmed safety.

Poramet Ngampichet, the mayor of Pattaya, officially announced that the beachfront successfully received the ISO 13009:2015 certification, marking the most significant milestone of this development. This is by no means a simple marketing tactic or a generic tourism badge. A thorough and well accepted worldwide standard for beach management is ISO 13009. This achievement follows Pattaya's placement in the Top 12 of the BeachAtlas Global Golden Beach Awards, demonstrating that the area is now institutionally competing with world-class coasts.To qualify, the city had to achieve strict standards across key areas:

• Meticulous Environmental Care: Operating an extremely advanced system that keeps an eye on water quality, prevents gray-water runoff, and manages garbage in a systematic way.

• Guaranteed Public Safety:Installing a completely integrated, linked CCTV safety system in addition to highly qualified, globally accepted lifeguard operations ensures public safety.

• Organized Beach Commerce: Maintaining a wide, open pedestrian area by controlling beach umbrella spacing and enforcing strict zoning for local shops.

Just a short drive down the coast, a massive coastal engineering project is reshaping Jomtien Beach. Phase 2 of the Sand Nourishment Project has surpassed the 30% completion threshold, according to Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat and the Marine Department. In response to Phase 1's success, this phase incorporates advanced sewage overhauls to prevent floods before the project concludes in February 2027 and adds 2.8 km of deep-sea dredged sand to permanently broaden the shoreline to 50 meters.
